Five Fandom Friday: Geeky Clothing Items I Need In My Closet Immediately

Five Fandom Friday is a weekly series hosted by The Nerdy Girlie and SuperSpaceChick!

This week’s topic is geeky clothing items I need in my closet immediately.

Confession: my closet kind of sucks. About once or twice a minute, the style of clothing I like changes. I am also constantly broke, and when I do have cash to spare, I tend to spend it on books rather than clothes. Not to mention most of my life is spent at work (in dress code) or on the couch reading or on my computer (in sweats) so nice clothes have never been something I knew a lot about. Any of you stylish nerds out there want to join me for tea and grace me with some advice?

Here are some nerdy pieces I’ve had my eye on for a while. If anyone has any insights on how to style them, I’d love your input!

1. Book bracelet from CarasBookishCharms on Etsy!

I already have a bracelet like this with all seven Harry Potter covers, and it’s one of my favorite accessories. I’d love to get one with some of my other favorite covers!

2. Daily Prophet Leggings from Black Milk Clothing!

I’ve never got anything from Black Milk since it’s pretty expensive, but I can still drool over these. Never mind that my booty is too big for leggings. These are so cool! Not to mention that I can never have enough Harry Potter-themed items on my body at one time. I would plaster myself in its book pages if that was an acceptable clothing option.

3. Professional Fangirl sweatshirt from Look Human!

If there was ever a career path I could get really excited about, it would be the professional fangirl. And if there was ever one article of clothing I could live in forever, it would be a sweatshirt (easy, comfy and warm-what more could you ask for?) I really suggest clicking over to this shop as well. There are tons of nerdy and pop culture clothes including workout gear and I want pretty much everything on the site.

4. Where the Wild Things Are bow from uniquechicbowtique on etsy!

I like big bows and I cannot lie. My aunt told me that when I was little, I wouldn’t wear anything that didn’t have bows or sequins on it. It kind of surprised me, because I don’t remember being a particularly girly child. But I guess people don’t change much, because I still love both! This book was my childhood, and the bow is super duper cute.

5. Kiki’s Delivery Service tank top from Hot Topic!

Kiki’s Delivery Service is the first Studio Ghibli film I ever watched and the one that is nearest and dearest to my heart. I actually designed an everyday cosplay for Kiki the other day (should I post it? It’s not exactly book related).

Honorable mention: Alice in Wonderland tee from Litographs!

So I didn’t particularly like any of the styles they have available, but this is such a neat idea. If you can’t tell, all the color on the shirt is made from words from the book! You could conceiveably read a good portion of the book just from the shirt. They have other books available, too! I will be keeping my eye on this site and if they release a design I love, I’m sure I will grab one.
That’s all for today! Do you want any of these pieces? Could you tell a fashion-inept nerd like me how to style them and not look like a walking gift shop? Remember to comment here, check out the other lists over at  The Nerdy Girlie  and SuperSpaceChick, and post your own!
P.S. I’ve never really been a Twitter person. I’ve had one forever but I never touched it except to occasionally read Maureen Johnson’s hilariosity (well worth venturing onto Twitter, trust me. Take the gem she has pinned:)

The trick to folding a fitted sheet is to turn it inside out, carefully take the corners, then roll it, throw it aside, burn down your house
